Charlotte Ostermann is a Catholic convert, freelance writer and editor, homemaker, poet, humorist, veteran educator, and spiritual mentor.
Her book, Souls at Rest: An Exploration of the Eucharistic Sabbath, has received the Catholic Writers Guild Seal of Approval, and the enthusiastic recommendation of her priests, spiritual director, and others. The second edition of Souls at Rest was published by Angelico Press in the fall of 2014. Its sequel, Souls at Work: An Invitation to Freedom, is now available through Angelico, and via Amazon.com. The Catholic Truth Society published her booklet, Making Sunday Special in 2013. Dare Your Something! – now available via Amazon.com – is a compilation of all her encouragement to live life as an adventure. A Destiny to Burn is a collection of her published and unpublished poetry, with essays to help readers understand and enter more fully into the poetic dimension of spiritual life.
Charlotte has written, or is writing You, Free; Fun With Diagramming; Life in Motion: Why I Love Driver Education Time With My Teens; Holy Geometry!; Elizabeth of the Epiphany; 25 Ways to Help an Artist: The Art of Low-Cost Philanthropy. Souls at Play: A Reflection on Creativity will be the third in the ‘Holy Leisure Trilogy’. Her feature articles and poems have been published in Envoy, Canticle, Hereditas, Thessauri Ecclesiae, Mater et Magistra, St. Austin Review and Gilbert magazines.
Charlotte blogs for the Catholic Writers Guild, at CharlotteOstermann.com, for Roman Catholic Spiritual Direction, and for Catholic365.com. In early 2014, she earned the Maryvale Institute Certificate in Art, Beauty and Inspiration – a study of the principles of art and beauty solidly rooted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Charlotte lives with her husband, Russ, and four of their eight children on a ‘farm wannabe’ north of Lawrence, Kansas. She sings in the Sursum Corda Polyphony Ensemble and at her home church, the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center. She’s a founding member of the Catholic Creatives Salon and the Contemporary Religious Artists Association. She is a member of and spiritual mentor with the Family of the Apostles of the Interior Life, in Kansas City, Kansas.
Charlotte has spoken for home educators, women’s retreats, moms groups, C.S. Lewis Conferences and classes, and more. Her topics include poetic learning, aesthetic education, true beauty, creativity and faith, the art of dialogue, holy leisure, literature and life, interior freedom.
