I write, speak, invest, network, and question to stimulate fruitful conversation. Let's talk about human flourishing! It begins with freedom. Holy leisure is the key to human being, freedom and generativity. Please join me in the adventure of realizing Christ!
In the Presence
How I love the Divine Mercy chaplet!
This poem is based on my experience of the flow of that Mercy to and from my soul. He brings healing and strength, opens my interior capacity to receive Love, collects every aspect of my being within Himself, and makes my heart beat with His own. I need every aspect of His being – His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity – in order to be, myself. In the course of praying the chaplet, I experience my own deep need of Mercy. The flow of love that is mercy makes a way for me to receive the Person of Our Lord.
And then it wants to flow. I have a sense of participating with Him in the distribution of this Mercy to the whole world – for all the needs and in atonement for all the sins. Wherever I go in thought (or, did He take me there with His?) – to particular persons, to hospitals and prisons, to collections of people linked by family name, location or need, to continents and countries – His Mercy flows there.
The world needs my presence, my compassion, my gifts, and His presence within me, in order that He may be fully realized as the source of this Mercy.
In the Presence
Body of Christ,
be bone and muscle
to my fickle, faltering step.
Blood of my Lord,
be living movement
to my still and stony heart.
Soul of the One,
be love’s own spaciousness
within my cramped and carcassed soul.
Divinity,
be home, be ground
to hold the scattered shards of self.
Oh Body, strengthen and sustain!
Oh Blood, re-member and re-pulse!
Oh, Soul, open and animate!
Oh, God, continue and contain!
Body of Christ,
be Thou my own true frame.
Blood of My Lord,
flow from my open wounds.
Soul of the World,
become Thyself through me.
Father and King,
free me to bless Thy name.
